Selecting a Frame

One of the most common questions we get here at Stone Glacier is "What frame should I choose?". While there are many similarities in our frames, there are some significant differences. The largest of these differences is the shape of the frame sheet. Both the NEW Krux EVO & R3 Frames use straight carbon composite stays to create a flat frame sheet and reduce weight. The Xcurve Frame uses carbon composite stays paired with crimped aerospace grade titanium tubing to form a curved frame sheet. Our frame selection video will guide you through the process of determining the proper frame for your hunting style, personal preferences, and body type.

Stone Glacier Frame Options

The NEW Krux EVO Frame is the result of our founder and designer, Kurt Racicot, creating his ideal pack based on his personal preferences for backcountry solo hunts. Any true minimalist and ounce-counter will appreciate the simplicity yet functionality of the Krux EVO Frame. When we challenged Kurt to build his ideal pack system without worrying about the demands of the masses or catering to what was "expected" in the marketplace we weren't sure what to expect.  But, we knew whatever he came up with would be exceptional. The Krux EVO frame doesn't disappoint... it is a true load-hauler more than capable for serious backcountry hunts in a 2lb 7oz. package.

Stone Glacier Xcurve Frame

The Xcurve frame was designed based on the direction and feedback from Alaskan guides looking for a frame that performed under heavy loads day after day. Again Kurt challenged himself to push the limits of ultralight and design a frame that could take the constant stress of load-hauling while remaining comfortable. Kurt's answer was four carbon composite/titanium stays incorporating curvature to match the lumbar and upper back contours for increased weight distribution and comfort under heavy load. The unique "X" stay configuration increases both vertical frame strength and eliminates any lateral shift, especially for loads over 100 pounds. The Xcurve weighs just 3lb 2oz. and has become the choice of guides and outfitters worldwide.
