2022 New Product Recap

With the 2022 hunting season underway, the SG team has switched gears from scouting and planning to predator mode. The annual juggling of schedules to accommodate everyone’s hunts has begun, and the text alerts requesting help to pack out elk are starting to come in.

For obvious reasons, it’s our favorite time of year. It’s also a great time to put our products through the ringer exactly as they were intended to be used: on the hunt, day in and day out, in rugged country, and across the spectrum of weather conditions. 

We launched a ton of great products earlier this year, offering a little something for everyone, for every pursuit, and every season. We broke them down below as a friendly reminder to shore up your system. These products are in stock and ready to ship to you in time for your next hunt. Chilkoot 32° Quilt

Building off our Chilkoot Sleeping Bag line, the innovative Chilkoot 32° Quilt has quickly become a staff favorite. This ultralight quilt fills an important niche for backcountry hunters, offering exceptional warmth in an incredibly packable unit that gives you everything you need and nothing you don’t.

Weighing only 22.6 ounces, the Quilt is packed with 850+ Fill Power HyperDRY™ 90/10 grey goose down for an uncompromising warmth-to-weight ratio while offering resistance to water and wind. To further reduce weight, we eliminated the bottom of the bag and added two elastic straps for utilization with an insulated mattress. The temperature range of the bag can also be extended by wearing other layers like the Grumman Jacket and Pant in cold conditions. Other unique features include an articulated foot box, differential patterning to maintain loft around the body regardless of your sleeping position, and a neck baffle system that can trap heat when needed while staying comfortable around your neck.

Terminus 7000

The Terminus 7000 represents an evolution of SG Packs, resulting in the lightest, strongest 7000-cubic inch pack specialized for the high-alpine expedition hunter. This sheep, goat, and high-country mule deer workhorse weighs 3 pounds 15 ounces and is constructed with a waterproof textile that is also extremely resistant to abrasion from rocks and brush. To minimize excess leverage and maximize load placement, the 2200-cubic inch internal Load Cell positions boned-out meat next to the frame and close to the user’s center of gravity. This design leaves 4800 cubic inches of usable space to load your gear for the packout.

Approach 2800

For scouting, run-and-gun day hunts, or minimalist multi-day trips, the Approach 2800 will rise to the occasion. The Approach features a streamlined design with 2800 cubic inches of storage, including a dedicated spotting scope pocket; a full-panel, a zip-access main bag; and two internal organizational pockets. When you’re coming out heavy, the Load Shelf is capable of carrying 150+ pounds of meat and can also carry a Load Cell bag packed with all the necessities for a multi-day backcountry hunt.

Grumman Down Vest

Let’s call a spade a spade: we took the Grumman Down Jacket, removed the sleeves, and called that bad boy the Grumman Down Vest. While it sounds simple, the result is an essential piece of insulation that can stow away in your pack unnoticed until you need its warmth. Worn as an outer layer during exertion in cold temps or as an insulation layer under a shell, the Grumman Vest will give you a surprising amount of insulation without impeding your upper body mobility or the overall weight of your pack. This one is either in our pack or on our torsos all season long.

Cirque Jacket

We developed the Cirque Jacket after an overwhelming amount of customer and staff requests. This versatile synthetic insulation layer can be worn as a breathable outer layer on high-exertion hunts in cold conditions or as insulation under other SG jackets. It features highly breathable, moisture-resistant, quick-drying Primaloft® synthetic insulation and a DWR-treated Pertex® face fabric that is both lightweight and wind- and water-resistant. Articulated hood, elbow, and sleeve cuts offer exceptional warmth and weather protection while maximizing peripheral vision and mobility. And last but not least, pit zips allow you to quickly dump heat when you’re on the move.

Base Layers

We extended our baselayer offerings this year, adding key synthetic and merino products to the line. Whether you’re a merino guy, a synthetic guy, or some kind of crazy hybrid, we have a full line of base layers that purge sweat, resist odor, and provide critical sun protection and warmth from the opener to the closer.
