Apparel Care

When it comes to washing your Grumman Goose Down products, it's our recommendation only to do so when absolutely necessary. You may find that a simple "spot wash" is the best way to go. However, if you do need to wash your down products here is our recommendation.

We have found that many people are intimidated or hesitant to wash their rain gear. We want to make sure you don’t make this mistake as properly cleaned rain gear drastically improves its performance. Dirt and oils can contaminate the waterproof membrane and a proper wash and dry goes a long ways to reinvigorate the DWR treatment to help prevent the garment from “wetting out”.

Stone Glacier Sales and Service Lead, Andrew Whitney shows us how to repair the fabric on your M5 gear if you get a hole or tear in it.

Chilkoot Sleeping Bag Care

Over-washing your down sleeping bag can permanently damage the down insulation. We recommend spot-washing your bag whenever possible. If you do need to wash your entire bag, follow the instructions in the video below.

Pack Care

While Stone Glacier packs are very resilient pieces of backcountry equipment, they should still be treated with care. Here are some guidelines to ensure the longest life-span of your gear:

1.) Hand wash in warm water with mild dish soap or lightly power wash with mild dish soap to remove organic materials.

2.) Do not use bleach or hard detergents as they break down the fabric and thread integrity.

3.) Do not store in direct sunlight as long-term UV will degrade the fabric and coating.

4.) Do not machine wash as the agitation may weaken and damages the water-resistant coating of the fabrics.
